Mathematics is another field in which Romanians excel, as their participation in this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad has proved.
Six Romanian students have won a gold medal, four silver medals and one bronze medal. The best of the Olympiad lot is Simona Diaconu, student at the International Informatics highschool in Bucharest, who has also won last year a silver medal.
The students say that they worked hard to get these results, working up to 10 hours a day. Radu Gologan, the professor coordinator of the lot has confirmed that four of them have been already accepted to Princeton, Harvard and Cambridge universities.
