Vlad Darie, from Satu Mare, has been crowned the 2016 partypoker WPT Vienna champion. The competition gathered 215 participants and in the end, six finalists were set to play on Sunday in Vienna. Vlad Darie has managed to beat chip lead Zoltan Gal. With a total prize of 680,000 euro, Vlad Darie has taken the big prize of 170,800 euro.
Vlad had to beat L.A. Poker Classic champion Dietrich Fast, Matt Davenport, Dominik Bosnak and Georgios Zisimopoulous. Pokernewsdaily.com reports that Gal has held the lead at the beginning, punishing Darie for his mistakes, however at the end Darie managed to beat him.
Reportedly, this is the first Romanian to win a competition of this calibre in poker.
