Romania won the golden medal at the Chess competition within the World games for children who beat cancer.
The competition was held in Moscow this year. Over 500 children from 16 countries competed in different sports such as race, swimming, football, shooting and chess.
Romania’s representative for chess is Alexia Timofte, a 14 year old girl who has been fighting cancer for 7 years. This is the second time she participated in the games and it is her second gold medal.
She has also participated in the football games and her team won the bronze medal. Thanks to doctors and family, Alexia is now in a stable condition and is still following treatment.
