David Turturean has won the gold medal at the International Astronomy Olympiad

The International Astronomy has brought Romania a gold medal this year. David Turturean from Suceava has managed to beat 82 competitors from 22 countries in the competition which was held in Sri Lanka, October 6-14.

The student qualified in two competitions in July, the International Astronomy Olympiad held in China and the international competition in Sri Lanka. The government paid for his trip to Sri Lanka, whoever they did not provide funds for his competition in China. The family has raised money from donations ( he needed 1,000 euros) and people donated over 4,000 euros towards his trip. Turturean will participate in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in China in November 3-10.
