The biggest plastic bottle bridge in the world opens up in Romania

The largest plastic bottle bridge in the world was created and inaugurated a few days ago in Timisoara. The bridge is part of a project that wants to draw attention to the  plastic waste that ends up in our waters.

The bridge that was built from 157, 000 plastic bottles is 23 metres long and crosses the Bega Canal in Timisoara city centre. Around 500 volunteers helped building the bridge and they all hope that the bridge will be large enough to be accepted in the Guiness book of Records.

The bridge is not the only project that draws attention to the waste. Volunteers hope the bridge will bring visitors that will also participate in workshops, concerts and street art performances.
