Thousands of cyclists participate in the largest cycling marathon in Eastern Europe

“First escape” the largest cross country cycling marathon in Eastern Europe will take place this year on May 10, in the forests north of Bucharest.
Over 2,000 participants have already subscribed and the value of the prizes is over 7,000 euro. The prizes consist of money and cycling accessories. There are several categories in which both amateur and professional cyclists can participate: female category, male category, family, extended family, cyclocross, couple and Elite ( for professionals).

The event, however, is not only focused on cycling. This year, the organisers are giving cyclists the chance to become fundraisers in order to help foster children get a better education. The educational programme ” Ajungem mari” ( Growing up) is aimed at foster children and children that come from difficult backgrounds. The programme will introduce children to interactive classes and will teach them how to get better jobs in the future, 200 volunteers will organise several workshops for over 400 children in Bucharest.

This competition is not only restricted to cyclists. Photographers are also invited to participate in a photo competition with prizes over 1,300 euros.
The event will also include an air show organised by the Romanian Aeroclub. Five airplanes will perform at the event and parachutists will entertain the audience.
The registration for the competition is open until May 5.
