Down Beat Magazine gives five stars to Romanian-American jazz band 

American jazz media outlet DownBeat Magazine has given five stars to jazz band Elevation for their album Songs from Afar. The album has songs written by Romanian pianist Lucian Ban and also includes songs inspired from folk and wedding songs from Romania, specifically the Transylvania region. 

The jazz group is formed of Abraham Burton, saxophone, John Herbert, contrabass, Eric McPherson, at drums, Mat Maneri, at viola, Gavril Tarmure as the singer and pianist Lucian Ban.

The composer of the group, Lucian Ban was born in Cluj-Napoca and has studied composition at the Bucharest Music Academy. He also went on to study for two years at the New School University in New York. The jazz band will organize a tour called “Transylvanian Concert” in Europe this year.
