Eduard Casaneanu wins gold at the Olympics individual hockey skills competition



Eduard Casaneanu has won the ice hockey skills contest on Thursday, 18th of February at the 2016 Youth Olympics organized in Lillehammer, Norway. Casaneanu managed to get 14 points after six rounds, beating Sebastian Cederle from Slovakia, with 12 points and Erik Betzold, representing Germany with 11 points.

Eduard Casaneanu was very proud and emotional when he received the medal. He said

“This is the biggest moment in my career, my country’s first medal, I am so, so proud. It is an amazing feeling.”

The competitors had to show off six skills and Casaneanu has proved to be the fastest shooter in the final round. He also managed to show very good pass precision and puck control.

22 Romanian athletes have participated in The Winter Olympics this year, which ended on February 21.
