The Romanian girls’ mathematics team has won 5 silver medals and 3 bronze medals at the fifth edition of the European Girls’ mathematical Olympiad. The silver medals were won by Ioana Alexandra Teodorescu ( grade 11), Raluca Cobzaru (grade 12), Clara Maria Dima ( grade 9), Lenca Iarina Cuturela ( grade 9) from International informatics high school in Bucharest and Doina Chiroiu (grade 10) from the Tudor Vianu Informatics college in Bucharest.
The bronze medals were secured by Andreea Dima ( grade 9) from Tudor Vianu Informatics college in Bucharest, Ramona Deaconu (grade 11) from the Ion Minulescu national college in Slatina and Ana Maria Radu ( grade 10) from the International informatics high school in Bucharest).
This year it was Romania’s turn to host the Olympiad, and as a competition host Romania had two teams and all the team members were awarded.The students were coached by Maria Romina Ivan, who was awarded in the past at many Olympiads and is now student at Cambridge.
The competition was organized in Busteni, Prahova county between 10-16th of April. 143 girls from 38 countries participated. The competition was held last year in Belarus, in 2014 in Turkey and in 2013 in Luxembourg.
