Cristina Neagu was voted world Handball player of the year 2015. A group of experts from the International Handball Federation has selected 10 best handball players in the world and the media and the fans chose Cristina Neagu as the best female handball player and Mikkel Hansen as the best male handball player.
The International Handball Association announced that the Romanian player won the title thanks to media votes ( 50.5%) and thanks to their fans (72.9%). This is not the first time she wins a title, as she was also chosen last year as Romania’s player of the year, and she also won several other awards such as the IHF Rookie of the Tear 2009 and IHF World Handball Player of the Year 2010.
IHF declared:
“2015 was the year of 27-year-old left back Cristian Neagu. With ZRK Budunost Podgorica she finished top of the national league of Montenegro, won the Montenegrin Cup and claimed the 2015 EHF Champions League title, sharing the first place of the EHF Champions League top scorer list with Andrea Penezic (102 goals).”
The Romanian handball team had a good year in 2015 as they won the bronze medal at the 2015 Women’s World Championship.
