Sibiu is once again the capital of culture, as it hosts a theatre festival for 10 days. The festival began on Friday and it will be open until June 19.
2,000 artists and almost 65,000 spectators will attend the festival. The 23rd edition of the Sibiu Theatre festival began with a series of exhibits, workshops, a book festival, conferences and seminars with Emil Hurezeanu and Octavian Saiu. The festival continues with street theatre shows which take place in different areas of the city. There are also different areas where people can have fun- a samba dance area, a Brazilian seduction area, improvisations and ” flights through time”. Music band Carla’s Dreams will perform in Piata Mare.
The festival will have actor Tim Robbins as a special guest. He will receive a star on the Alley of Celebrities, together with Luk Perceval, Cristoph Marthaler, Thomas Ostermeier, Yevgeny Mironov, Alvis Hermanis and Victor Rebengiuc.
Other events include a workshop by Adam Lazarus, a Canadian actor who is an expert in one-man shows and who will have a workshop focused on how to interpret a clown and a dramatic character. The small market will also host Sibiu BookFest where visitors will be able to purchase over 4,000 titles. Habitus library will host a debate with Emil Hurezeanu and photography lovers will be able to enjoy a Focus Fits photo exhibit by Mihaela Marin and Sebastian Marcovici.
An interesting event will be organized in the Large Market- “This is not my hair”. The show will present the way hair styles are created for theatre plays. The show is presented by a Alex Rendon, a stylist from Barcelona.
