Cristian Mungiu invited to join the American Academy

The American Academy Award has invited Cristian Mungiu to be a member of the organisation. The academy that awards the Oscars every year has also invited Nuri Bilge Ceylan from Turkey and Apichatpong Weeasethakul from Thailand, Emma Watson,  Hou Hsiao-Hsien from China, Abbas Kiarostami from Iran and Park-Chan-wook from South Korea.

If you are not familiar with the director, he filmed the famous ” 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days” movie that received the Palme d’Or in Cannes 2007. The new members list has 683 actors, designers and movie creators. Altogether the Academy has 6,261 members.
