Monica Niculescu, from Romania and Yanina Wickmayer from Belgium, have won the Citi Open Washington Doubles.
The pair has managed to beat Shuko Aoyama and Risa Ozaki from Japan with 6-4,6-3.
The game lasted an hour and 15 minutes and it was interrupted by rain in the first set with a score of 2-1 for the Romanian-Belgium team. The competition’s total prize money is 226,750. The winners of the double got 12,300 dollars and 280 WTA points. The Japanese tennis players received 6,400 dollars and 180 WTA points.
Monica Niculescu has previously won 5 WTA doubles, at Budapest, 2009, Hobart, 2012 and 2014 and Shenzen, 2014 and 2016.
