Ruxandra Draghia-Akli, a Romanian researcher will manage the department for research and Innovation as the new deputy director-general of the European Commission from September 1, 2016. She will work together with other three deputy general Directors: Charlina Vitcheva, Mario Campolargo and Carlos Alegria.
Ruxandra Draghia-Akli currently works for the European Commission’s department of research and innovation and she is coordinating a team of 150 people. She has previously worked for 20 years as a medical doctor and researcher in Romania, France and the United states. She has joined the European commission in 2009 and worked for the department of research and innovation.
