Irina Begu won the Brasil Tennis Cup in Florianopolis yesterday, August 5. The Romanian tennis player met Timea Babos, from Hungary, in the finals and beat her with a score of 2-6,6-4,6-3.
Irina Begu will also play in the Olympic Games in Rio and her first game will be with Nao Hibino from Japan. Another successful tennis player, Monica Niculescu, will also play for Romania at the Olympics and her first game will be against Veronica Cepede Royg from Paraguay.
Irina Begu is currently number 31 in the WTA ranking and Monica Niculescu is number 16.
