Students of the UMF bioengineering university in Iasi have cooked 60 portions of chicken with broccoli and went to a homeless shelter to give it to people.
The students got together and raised 2,000 lei and bought everything they needed to cook a nice hot meal. They have thus managed to cook 60 portions.
They said that they were very happy and excited that they could help and learn new things because they were very interested in learning how to cook. The students were supervised by a professional cook.
The students are part of a student association that does charitable acts quite often and now for Christmas they wanted to do something special.
One young woman said for mediafax
I came to volunteer and help the needy, to cook food for them. I cleaned the carrots, I cooked the chicken.
The association is always involved in charitable acts but they wanted also this time to teach students to help people.
The students cooked chicken with brocoli, pepper, bacon and carrot salad with citrus fruits. Normally the association cooks around 20 meals but now they managed to cook 60. Bogdan Puiu, the leader of the organization was happy that the idea came for the students and all he had to do is provide the kitchen and the tools.
