Director Cristian Mungiu, well known for the film 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days will be the president of the Cinefondation and Short Films Jury at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Mungiu has previously won many movie awards, including the 2007 Palme d’Or , the Best Screenplay award for the movie Beyond the Hulls and the Best Director Award for the film Graduation, and he was also part of the Cannes jury competition in 2013. Mungiu is part now of a long list of prestigious movie directors who presided the competition, such as Steven Spielberg, Naomi Kawase, Abderrahmane Sissako, Abbas Kiratostami and Jane Campion.
Pedrom Almodovar will also be the president of the jury of the Cannes International Film festival this year.
The president of the Cinefondation, Gilles Jacob said about the news
Cristian Mungiu is a glorious member of that Romanian school showcased by Thierry Frémaux in the 2000s. Just to look at the intelligence and interactive ramifications of a screenplay like Graduation is to understand that Cristian is the dream examiner for the big Festival exam – the Cinéfondation and the short films. I wonder who will pass? Good luck to all the candidates!
