Romanian woman wins US chess championship

Romanian chess player Sabina-Francesca Foisor has won on Sunday the USA Women Chess Championship. The competition took place in Saint Louis, Missouri. She has earned 8 points out of 11. She has managed to beat Nazi Paikidze with 7 points and Irina Krush with 6,5 points.

Sabina Foisor was born in 1989 in Timisoara, Romania. She has represented Romania in many competitions and she has won the silver and bronze medals at the European Youth Chess Championships. In 2005 she was awarded the title of Woman International Master.

She moved to the US  in 2008 and since then she has represented the US in chess competitions.

Foisor’s family is quite passionate about chess. Her parents, Cristian Adela Foisor and Ovidiu-Doru Foisor were Romanian chess champions and they have won many international competitions.
