Romanian researchers win gold medal at Geneva Inventions Exhibition

A group of Romanian researchers have won the Gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.

The award was given for inventing a method to obtain an antibacterial cream that is based on marjoram extract and birch. The product helps heal infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus. The product also works well with inflamations and it has a long term efect and it is suitable for both adults and children. The positive aspects of this invention is that it does not have side efects. The cream was invented while researchers from both universities were working together to study to effects of antimcrobian activities of esential oils in medicinal plants.

This type of product does not exist currently in Romania. The researchers have represented two universities from Timisoara: The Agriculture Research and Veterinary Medicine University of Banat and the Babes Pharmacy and Medicine University of Timisoara. The team will continue their research in finding natural remedies for treating cancer.
