It’s good news for wild animals that are used in circuses, as today Romania forbids using animals in circuses.
The law was adopted today. The only exceptions to the rule are: horses, dogs, dolphins and some birds.
The law was voted on Tuesday with 201 votes “for” and 7 votes “against”.
The initial law stated that wild animals regardless of the fact that they were captured or were born captive were forbidden to be used in any type of circus show or exhibit. Now the law states that some dogs, some horses, fish, and dolphins can be used.
People that will use wild animals in circuses will be imprisoned from 3 months up to a year or they will be fined.
The animals that are used in circuses now will be moved into sanctuaries or zoos.
