Romania has won two gold medals and a silver one at the World Rowing Championships.
The competition took place this weekend in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Romanians have participated in this contest which allows only under 23-year-olds to participate.
Romanians Mihaita- Vasile Tiganescu and Cosmin Pascari have won the gold medals at the Men’s Pair section beating the French team and Ionela Livia Lehaci and Gianina Elena Beleaga have won the gold at the women’s section called Lightweight Women Double Sculls beating the Italian team.
The silver medal was secured by Cristian Ivascu, Alexandru Matinca, Alexandru-Cosmin Macovei, Constantin Adam, Constantin Radu, Sergiu-Vasile Bejan, Gheorghe-Robert Dedu, Ciprian Tudosa and Adrian Munteanu who beat Great Britain but were beaten by Netherlands.
As well on Saturday Cristina-Georgiana Popescu, Alina Ligia Pop, Beatrica-Madalina Parfenie and Roxana Parascanu have won the silver medal. In total the Romanian team has been placed on the fourth place in the competition, with 2 gold and 2 silver medals. Italy has managed to get the 1st place, Netherlands the 2nd and Great Britain the 3rd.
