Madalina Condrea from Arad has reached the Manaslu peak. She is the first Romanian woman to have climbed such a high peak. The Manaslu Peak is 8,163 meters and it is situated in the Himalaya mountains.
Madalina Condrea is a 28-year-old climber from Arad city. She is one of the few women in the world to have reached such a high peak.
At the moment Madalina is still in Nepal. She said
For me it was a dream. For 9 years I have gathered funds and I was hoping to reach the peak. It was not easy, I cannot say it was easy but it was worth the suffering.
Madalina was born in Romania, however, she has been living in Switzerland for the last 10 years where she is teaching foreign languages. She said that for the last 12 years she has been swimming daily and she has been running daily 10 kilometers a day and once a week 20 kilometers. This is the only training she has done for the climbing. The peak has been also conquered by another Romanian, Horia Colibasanu in 2006. He stated that it is a hard peak to climb as it snows every day and it is very dangerous due to avalanches.
