The biggest running event in Romania will take place this weekend. It is estimated that over 16,000 runners from Romania and other countries will run at the Bucharest Marathon.
This is the 10th edition of the marathon and this year will definitely surpass last year when 14,000 runners took part in the event.
The Bucharest marathon consists in several events such as a marathon, half-marathon, a children race, a teen race, a 3 km popular race. As well, disabled competitors can take part with wheelchairs and also hand bikes. The start will be tomorrow, at 8.00 a.m.
The event organizers are hoping to encourage civic responsibility. The event is also encouraging sports volunteering as over 700 volunteers have taken part in the event.
The event is organized by Valeria Racila, who is a former rowing world champion.
