Avram Iancu, the Romanian who swam 2800 kilometers along the Danube river has been nominated for the World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year award.
The award is given by the World Open Water Swimming Association, an association which is monitoring swimmers from around the world.
13 swimmers from Italy, France, UK and US have been nominated this year for the Man of the Year prize. The swimmers have been nominated based on certain criteria, however, the public will vote for the winner.
Avram Iancu said about his nomination
There is nothing more I can do. What I was able to do was to move my arms millions of times to cross the entire course of the Danube without thermal protection, to achieve this world premiere that led to this prestigious nomination. Now, I ask you to also use your hands.
The competition has different titles such as Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Performance of the Year and Offering of the Year.
