Cristian Mungiu’s new movie “Lemonade” has been selected in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival this year.
The movie was directed by Ioana Uricaru and tells the story of Mara, a 30-year-old woman who moved to the US with her 9-year-old son, Dragos. The character is married to Daniel, an American who works in construction. The movie shows a day in the life of Mara who discovers that it is hard to achieve the American dream.
This Ioana Uricaru’s movie debut. The movie has been produced by Romania, Germany, Canada, and Sweden and the casting includes Malina Manovici, Steve Bacic, Dylan Scott Smith, Milan Hurdu and Ruxandra Maniu.
This is the third Romanian movie to be selected within the festival. Other movies that have been selected are “Touch me not” directed by Adina Pintilie and ” Fotbal Infinit” directed by Corneliu Porumboiu.
The panorama section includes 47 movies from 40 countries and 37 of them will be shown for the first time at the festival.
