Romanian film producer Ada Solomon has been assigned as the new executive president of the European Women’s Audiovisual Network. The purpose of the Network is to encourage equality for women who work in the entertainment industry in relation to access to jobs and opportunities on a European level.
The Network is awarding prizes every year at the DOK Leipzig festival, the WEMW Trieste and the La Coruna festival.
Ada Solomon will replace Isabel de Campo. The Romanian director has produced and co-produced over 50 films and she has won 180 awards at many movie festivals such as the Sundance film festival, the Cannes film festival, the Locarno film festival and the Sarajevo film festival. Lately, she has been involved in producing the Romanian movie Scarred Hearts, Child’ Pose directed by Calin Netzer and Aferim! directed by Radu Jude. She has also been the executive producer for the Toni Erdmann movie.
She has also been involved in the European Women’s Audiovisual Network’s project, such as the mentoring scheme for women producers in 2018. Solomon is also a member of the European Film Academy and the Romanian Center for Contemporary Dance.
