Angela Gheorghiu, one of the most famous Romanian sopranos has received the Victoire d’Honneur award at the Les Victoires de la Musique Classique event in France.
The awards were transmitted live on several French TV channels. Angela Gheorghiu was presented as “the most flamboyant, the most amazing and exciting of today’s sopranos,” with a ” velvety voice, of exceptional magnitude.”
Angela Gheorghiu was born in Romania in 1965 and she attended the Music School in Bucharest. She has sung on many stages across the world, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Vienna State Opera. She has also sung in Opera Houses in Salzburg, Madrid, Barcelona, Taipei, Berlin and Tokyo. She has won many awards during her career, such as the Gramophone Award, the Echo Klassik Award and the USA Critics’Award.
