A Romanian ballerina was recently awarded the National Dance award for her Outstanding Classical performance in Akram Khan’s production for the English National Ballet. The dancer has received the prize on February 19 at the Barbican Centre in London. The award was given by the Critics’ Circle.
Alina Cojocaru has been performing in the UK for the English National Ballet since 2013. She has danced in the past for the Kiev Ballet, where she also went to school and where she also trained. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 she has also performed for the Royal Ballet in London.
Alina Cojocaru has won many awards during her career, such as the Ballerina of the Decade- in 2010 in Moscow, Internationaler Movimentos Tanz Preis in 2004, the Gold Medal at the Nagoya International Ballet Competition and the Dancer of the Year award which was given by the German Dancer Critics Awards in 2012.
