Romanian photographer Nicu Spanu has won the SONY Romania National Award for a photograph he took in Bucovina. The photograph is called The Boot and shows an area lived by welcoming people and by wonderful landscapes.
The photographer said that on Saint Nicholas Day people clean their boots hoping at night Saint Nicholas will leave presents there. Spanu was inspired by this holiday and he used a drone to take a photo of the area. He was quite surprised that he won and said to Agerpres that he always dreamt of promoting beautiful places on an international level.
The Sony award consists of a photography equipment and his photo will be exposed at the Sony World Photography Awards in London, between April 20-May 6. Over 320,000 photographs from 63 countries participated in this year’s National Sony Awards. The competition chooses one winner photograph from each country.
