Romanian girls win two gold medals and a silver medal at the European Girl’s Mathematical Olympiad

Romanian women have proved again and again that they are leaders in their field. Recently, two students have shown their math skills at the European Mathematics Olympiad for Girls 2018.

Alexandra Timofte from Tudor Vianu IT National College in Bucharest and Lenca Iarina Cuturela from the IT high school in Bucharest have both won the gold medals.

The two girls have won the silver medals at the previous olympiads in 2016 and 2017. As well, one silver medal was secured by Amina Abu Shanab. The team was coached by professor Mihail Baluna from the Mihai Viteazul National College in Bucharest and by Princeton University student, Ioana Teodorescu. Ms Teodorescu has won several medals at this competition in the past.

The competition took place in Florence and 195 students from 51 countries have shown their mathematics skills. The competition is aimed at students under 20 and it has two written tests.
