In recent years Romanians have understood the importance of charitable organizations and civil society has become more active. Recently over 3,000 Iasi residents have participated in a project which aimed at raising money for education.
The locals have participated in a special cross on the Emil Alexandrescu stadium. Amongst the 3,000 participants, 1300 runners and 800 children have run. Thus locals have raised more than 180,000 lei which will be used in 36 school projects.
The event was at its 4th edition and according to organizers more and more people are willing to participate every year. Compared to last year, the number of participants has doubled. In total there were 99 runner teams, several individual runner, and ambassadors. Runners have also tried to raise funds for over a month for educational projects. Stiri.ong noted that Iasi locals are more willing to help and make projects become a reality. In the past, people used to get together only in crisis situations when they had to help with money. However, lately, sports events have encouraged civil society to participate directly.
