Romanian students win gold, silver and bronze medals at the European Physics Olympiad

The European Physics Olympiad which was organized in Russia this year has brought us several medals.The Romanian team which was formed of 10 students have won 4 bronze medals, 4 silver medals and 2 gold medals.

The gold medalists are Radu Andrei from the Nicolae Balcescu National College in Braila and Sebastian Leontica vrom the Petru Rares National College in Piatra Neamt. Leontica has also won a Special Award in the Theory section. The team was coached by professor Adrian Dafinei from the Physics University in Bucharest and professor Delia- Constanta Davidescu from the International IT highschool in Bucharest. The Romanian team is the only one which won two gold medals and it has been declared ” The Best Team” of the competition.

The second edition of the competition took place in Moscow between May 28- June 1. Many teams from 22 countries, including 18 European countries have participated.

În perioada 28 mai – 1 iunie 2018, la Moscova s-a desfăşurat cea de-a II-a ediţie a Olimpiadei Europene de Fizică (EuPhO’18), organizată de Institutul de Fizică şi Tehnologie din capitala rusă. La competiţie au participat echipe din 22 de ţări, inclusiv 18 state europene, printre care şi România, respectiv din spaţiul CSI şi America Latină.
