Six amazing young individuals were chosen as the most influential in the world. The top was made by the World Economic Forum to celebrate the Young People International Day on August 13.
Profiles of the young people from different sectors such as Education, technology and also public governing were published. One Romanian woman called Oana Toiu was also chosen amongst them.
Oana Toiu, former state secretary in the Work Ministry and initiator of the Future Makers competition has founded the Social Innovation Solutions. The organization offers consultancy and training on future trends and also social innovation. These can be applied in politics, business and organizations that seek to have an impact on a social level.
Oana is a very active person. She has organized two competitions in Romania which encourage and awards young people that come up with ideas. These are called Social Impact Award and Future Makers.
In 2018 Oana has worked with over 1500 young people from 15 cities and has helped them develop their business ideas. Some of these businesses will compete for financing or for training in South Africa and in Georgia at the Social Impact Award Summit.
Oana was invited to speak about the future of Europe at several conferences at Harvard Business School and at the European Commission. When finding out that she made the top list Oana said that it was rather unexpected but she is happy that the world now looks at Romania and recognizes hard work.
The other young people who made the list are: Basima Abdulrahman from Irak who is planning to build a green city, Kwiri Yang who founded a mental health platform, Abi Ramanan who founded a platform for nutrition, Doreen Kessy who created Ubongo, an educational platform that is used by 64 million of people and Nafez Dakkak who founded the Queen of Rania foundation.
