David Radu, a 10-year-old boy has become the European champion of chess in his age category.

David Radu, from Bucharest, has started competing since he was 6 years old. He has so far participated in the World Championships, the European championships, and the European Union championships as well many other national competitions.

His mother noticed that since he was young at the age of 4 he kept playing with the chess board and she decided to take him to a chess club. The club where chess was taught was really close to the kindergarten where David was going. The trainers there noticed how he was very talented and encouraged him to compete. He started participating in competitions such as the Mamaia European games and the Elisabeta Polihroniade chess national competition where he won the first place in blitz and the second place in classic.

The boy is now training with maestro Ion Glodeanu and he dreams of becoming an international maestro.
