Romanian confectioners win gold medals at the Villeroy and Boch culinary competition

Romanian food might not be famous as Italian or French food, but it might become thanks to Alexandru Chitic and Ferenc Farkas. The confectioners have won the gold medals at the Villeroy and Boch Culinary World Cup.

The international competition of gastronomy took place in Luxemburg this year.  Farkas has created an edible representation of Romanian countryside objects such as a wooden gate, the inside of a traditional house and also traditional costumes. Farkas is from Sfantu Gheorghe and has been working as a confectioner for 20 years. He has won many medals in international competitions, such as the first place at the GastroPan bakery where he also created foods that represent Romanian stories and also an a amazing representation of Peles Castle in Sinaia.

The other chef, Alexandru Chitic is from Campina and he created an edible sculpture which represents products from a coffee shop. Besides the gold medal, he also won the silver medal together with his team from Campina in the regional teams competition.

The Villeroy and Boch culinary competition has gathered 8,000 competitors from 75 countries. They have competed over five days.
