Three Christmas movies that were made this year in Romania

Netflix and Hallmark have produced many Christmas movies this year and three of them were produced in Romaniaby production designer Sorin Dima. They have chosen some beautiful landmarks around the country as all of them have a royal theme.

  1. The Princess Switch

This is a romantic comedy made by Netflix which tells the story of two twin women – a baker and a princess who switch places. The movie was filmed at the Karolyi castle which is in Carei town, in northwest Romania, at the border with Hungary. The castle is open to visitors, should you wish to visit.

2. The Christmas Prince: the royal wedding

This movie produced by Netflix is a sequel to The Christmas Prince and it tells the story of a commoner who marries a prince. As she needs to plan her wedding her tastes clash often with the royal protocols.

The movie was filmed at the Peles castle on the exterior, Cotroceni Palace museum and Snagov palace.

3. Christmas at the Palace

Another feel-good Christmas movie here created by Hallmark. The focus is on an ice skater who is hired by the king to help his daughter with her ice skating. The movie was shot at Snagov and Bragadiru Palace ( where also Hallmark movie  A Princess for Christmas was shot).
