Romanian handball player Cristina Neagu has once again won the Women’s World Handball Player of the Year for 2018. Neagu, who is the captain of the national women’s handball team has received the award today, December 2nd.
She was given the award during the Congo-Japan match at the Women’s World Championships that takes place this year in Kumamoto, Japan.
Cristina Neagu has previously won the award in 2010, 2015 and 2016 and in total she has marked 800 goals for Romania. She was also the best scorer in the 2018 Champions league.
This year Neagu was injured so she was not able to play for a few months. Asked about her motivation to get back in the game, she stated:
The sheer love for what I do. This is what motivates me every time and even though I had some troubles in my rehab, with swelling in the knee and some pain, I really wanted to be back on the court and do what I do best in my life.
